HOLLY BURTON
Hi, I'm Holly
Photographer and visual artist in Doncaster, South Yorkshire.
My childhood was spent working and enjoying Performing Arts. I grew up in theatres, competing as a dancer and performing in shows. As that chapter in my life came to an end, I began photographing my dance competition team, started my A Level in photography and found my love for the art and science of photography. Fast forward a few years and now I have a creative career and a first class degree in photography!

A tale of two halves...
HB Photography is a photographic service owned by me, a creative photographer and visual artist who is powered by a love of story telling. I love creating work that evokes a narrative and I primarily work between traditional and non-traditional photography. My goal is to capture your story, whatever it may be.

Making time to challenge myself artistically allows me to grow as a photographer and an artist, thus my artistic practice continues to evolve. I am driven by research, whether that be written or through general practice and I love experimenting outside of traditional photographic processes and ideas.

My Style...
Eclectic. Emotive. Creative. My Style is YOU!
For me, taking photos is only half of the process. The creative process of bringing an idea to life is just as important and exciting as making the images! This is why I love getting involved in all creative roles, whether that be creative direction, prop sourcing or location scouting. I am a 'hands-on' photographer. There is no better feeling than watching a vision you have worked on come to fruition - that is what inspires me to create.

I am a strong believer in creating for the sake of creating. Making time for passion projects, experimenting outside of traditional photographic processes, and working beyond my comfort zone, is what allows me to develop my skills and grow the most. I love sharing this process on social media to inspire others to get creating.
Artist Statement
Holly Burton is an eclectic photographer interested in digital experimentation and photo-based art. Working within the technological boundaries of photography, Holly uses alternative light sources and abstraction to transform the essence of her subjects. Holly uses photography as a means of examining the interpretation of the photographic image, when there is no ‘sign’ attached to it. The optical unconscious has become a common motif within Holly’s practice, which Holly aims to redefine through her work, particularly to explore the boundaries of perspective through light and shadow. Holly takes a multidisciplinary approach to her practice, exploring non-traditional photographic processes; and aims to create new work from old theories, narratives, and visuals, in an attempt to redefine them in the contemporary world.
